It’s time to leave

Five-seventeen in the morning and I open my eyes. Body is a bit twisted but otherwise fine from a night spent in a hammock. The roosters have begun their morning calls. Outside the soft light of the early morning sky is reflected in the water of the lake. Within minutes we have all moved. Kara and Michael are back to packing–to leave or to take, to leave or to take?

The wind has picked up, will it bring the rain like last night? Gale force winds and a hard rain came at us late last night forcing us inside and behind shuttered windows and doors? No time to watch it, just experience it as we get ready. We leave at 6.
